How long does a repair take?
Typically we complete repairs within 2 business days of receiving your coffee machine. This is because we keep the most common parts in stock. However on occasion we may need to order/source a part for you – We will contact you to discuss this.
What is the difference between a repair and a service?
Choose a repair when you are experiencing a fault with your machine. A service is only for machines in full working order – Our service is intended to prolong the life of the machine and keep it in tip-top condition.
If you are unsure if you need a service or a repair, you can simply reach out to us and we will be able to direct you to the correct choice.
What options do I have for getting the machine to you?
You can either drop the machine off directly at our workshop in Bristol (by appointment only), or you can post your machine to us.
Please see this page for a helpful run-down of how to safely pack your machine and send to us.
What happens if you receive my machine and it isn’t broken?
It’s rare, but it happens. Sometimes we receive coffee machines for repair that turn out not to be broken. (For example; if a pressure issue is due to the coffee being used). In this instance we will have diagnosed the machine for the specified fault, we will discuss this with you. We charge £40 for this diagnosis – or you can choose another options such as a service.
My machine has a problem with pressure; is there a way to check if it is broken?
Absolutely; The best way to check if your machine is suffering from pressure issues is to install a double-walled filter basket into the portafilter and run a double-shot (without any coffee in the filter basket). If your machine is able to pass water through and enter ‘espresso’ range, then likely you may need to adjust your preparation a little.
We have a sister company which provides great online masterclasses which can get you familiar with your machine, how to dial in your coffee and how to keep your machine lasting for years to come. Check out our classes here
What do I need to do when I receive my coffee machine back after a repair?
We have an aftercare guide here. In short; it’s essential that you re-soak any water filter that you reinstall. A dry water filter can result in drawing air into the system, on some models this will cause an air lock which needs to be removed.
We also recommend that you descale your machine (if you have opted for us not to do this for you). If a machine requires additional work due to a airlock or limescale blockage in a new part (etc), we would need to charge to resolve this for you should you need to return the machine.Â
What happens if I don’t want to move forward with a repair?
In the rare occasion that you deem the repair not to be economical after we have received and diagnosed the coffee machine, we would charge £40 for our diagnostic work.
Do you offer some kind of warranty with your work?
Yes!
We cover our work for 3months from the date of you receiving the machine back. This means that if a part that we have fitted fails in this time, then we will rectify it for you.
Do you recommend a particular coffee bean for my machine?
We certainly do!
Although we may be a little biased (this is our company) – We highly recommend www.caffin8.co.uk – we roast to order here in Bristol and dispatch the same day – This means you get unbalievably fresh coffee straight to your door!
