We’ve seen every type of issue that can occur with the Barista Express; honestly nothing can really surprise us now. However, here are a few common issues that we see regularly:
Issue: My Sage Barista Express won’t pass water through the group head (Porta Filter / Peculator / Coffee maker)
A very common issue for the Barista Express is where the water won’t come through the group head (the bit that you connect the porta filter to) when making coffee. Usually the steam-wand and hot water outlet are still working (sometimes they are not working either).
We can fix this problem, see an example from the video below:
Issue: My Sage Barista Express is leaking water (usually out of the back of the machine)
Another very common issue for the Barista Express is that water tends to leak from the back of the machine. There are a few common internal weak points within the coffee machine which cause a leak. Sometimes these leaks will cause the machine to trip the fuse.
Either way, this issue shouldn’t be left unfixed. We can usually fix this type of problem.
Issue: My Barista Express is leaking from the group head when making coffee
A common issue with the Sage Barista Express is a leak from the group head; between the ports filter and the machine when making coffee. Sometimes the leak is gradual or sometimes the machine will ‘pop’ under pressure and the leak will be sudden. Unfortunately this is typically not the group head seal (we of course check that first though)

Issue: My Barista Express is making a loud buzzing noise
Sometimes the machine will make a constant loud buzzing noise when it’s switched on. Other times this fault will only appear when passing a shot. Either way we can fix it. See the video below with an example of this issue:
Issue: My Barista Express steam wand is not working
This issue is slightly less common however we have seen a few cases where the steam wand is not working but the rest of the machine is working as usual.
